Our Purpose
AUM is an outreach that not only assists families with physical needs
but also assists them with emotional and spiritual support through
prayer, counseling, worship and Bible Study. The vision of Arlington
Urban Ministries is to focus on meeting the needs of people on the
streets and in the corners of society where they are not being reached
by the traditional church. AUM is designed to work with people to
help them solve their own problems through a more nearly complete
relationship with Christ.

How is help provided to those in need?
After the needs of a person or family are established, help comes in
many forms. Help might be in the form of getting a prescription filled,
or a referral to another agency for dental work. Help might be money
to pay a portion of a utility bill or rent or help might be groceries for a
hungry family. Preeminent above any aspect of our ministry is sharing
the love and grace of Christ with everyone. Yes, we do meet physical
needs with food, clothes, financial assistance, and referrals to
community resources - but we also share the Bread of Life that can
change lives through Bible Study, counseling and prayer.

What are some of the ministry and assistance
programs that Arlington Urban Ministries provides?

Storefront Ministry
This ministry responds to needs such as food, transportation, and
emergency monetary assistance. People referred by churches,
agencies or individuals to the storefront are screened, counseled,
referred to other agencies or directly assisted.

Arlington
Urban
Ministries

Arlington Urban Ministries is a
Methodist based organization living
the Christian faith by serving those in
our community who find themselves
in crisis situations. By listening to their
problems, identifying options, and
developing solutions through spiritual,
financial, and counseling help our
staff and volunteers follow
in Christ's footsteps.

Arlington Urban Ministries is a volunteer
based street ministry that is supported by
area Methodist Church congregations.
AUM has concentrated its ministry to one
of the largest metropolitan areas in Texas.
The city of Arlington is perceived many
times as a suburban community in the
Dallas/Ft. Worth area. In reality,
Arlington is a large city with many
families in need of special assistance.
