Trinity's Ministry
of Music and Fine Arts is a community of faith organized to aid in the proclamation
of the Gospel using a variety of musical and artistic experiences to help
the church accomplish its mission. It should be viewed not as a program area
with music and others arts as its ultimate goal, but rather as a ministry
through music and other arts to those participating actively in it, to the congregation
as a whole, and to the greater community and world to which we are called
to be ministers. The Music Ministry is organized and graded by age levels
and degrees of musical experience and expertise in order to most effectively
meet the needs of the membership, to learn about music and Biblical truths, and
to share their Christian witness using their talents. This
ministry area is directed by full-time Minister of Music, G.W. Dub Shepherd,
an ordained United Methodist deacon, serving Trinity UMC since March 2001.
Rev. Shepherd is ably assisted by part-time paid staff associates, as well as
volunteer laypersons, directing and accompanying the various ensembles. For
the 2007-2008 Choir Year, these include:
Mary Sorensen, Praise & Worship Leader Phyllis
Wolf, Music Assistant John Wolf, Organist Kathleen Wolfram, Cindy Anderson,

Music Program
Neither previous choral experience or auditions are required for volunteer
participation in these choirs and ensembles, although it is important to maintain
an appropriate balance between voice parts in the smaller ensembles. Individuals
who are not able to make a regular weekly commitment to singing in one of these
organized choirs are encouraged to participate in seasonal music-making during
Advent/Christmas, Lent/Easter, and the summer. Inquiries should be made to
the Minister of Music. Click here for a description
of the adult music opportunities. Children's
Music Program
We have a choir for each age group. Rehearsals are held on Wednesday evening
(September - May) from 6:00-6:50 p.m. Each choir teaches basic music and
social skills, using songs with Scripturally-based texts, choruses, and age-appropriate
curriculum. Click here for a description of the children's
choirs. Student

Music & Fine Art Opportunities Praise
Band
This ensemble, composed primarily of professional players, provides musical
leadership for Trinity's Praise & Worship Services. Opportunities are
available for volunteers to participate who can contribute at a high-level
of musicianship with minimal group rehearsal time. Technical assistance is
also needed with set-up and running the sound board. Instrumental
Ensemble (Adults And Youth) With the ever-increasing number
of capable string and wind players in our congregation, we are looking to
develop this new ensemble, including both youth and adults. Music reading
and adequate ensemble-playing skills are important as we organize this group. Music
Classes Dub Shepherd, Coordinator Music education and enrichment
classes are offered from time to time as a means of improving our musical
effectiveness. These classes are designed for both the active choir member
and others in the congregation who would seek to improve their musical skills. Music
& Fine Arts Committee Kara King-Lidell, Chairperson This
subcommittee of the Council On Ministries assists the Minister of Music as
an advisory and advocacy group. They assist creatively in planning and evaluating
programming and budget, while representing needs of various constituencies within
the music ministry. Drama
